463. present tenses(3): simple present(use)


１．通常の事柄について使われる
　・永続的な事柄、通常（いつも）起こる事柄、定期的に、または常に起こる事柄に使われる。
　　　Alice works for an insurance company.　（永続的）
　　　I play tennis every Wednesday.　（定期的に繰り返される）


２．今現在しか起こっていない事柄には単純現在は使われない
　・一時的な状況や、現時点やその前後で起きているだけの事柄については、単純現在は使われない。
　　　例１）　Water boils at 100°Celsius.
　　　　　　　The kettle's boiling - shall I make tea?
　　　例２）　It usually snows in January.
　　　　　　　Look - it's snowing!
　　　例３）　I play tennis every Wednesday.
　　　　　　　Where's Bernard?　　He's playing tennis.


３．進行形を取らない動詞
　・進行形を取らない動詞では、「今現在」という意味で単純現在が使われる。
　　　I like this wine very much.
　　　I believe you.


４．未来の事柄に現在形が使われる場合
　・通常は、未来に関する事柄には単純現在は使われない。
　　　I promise I won't smoke any more.　（... I don't smoke ...　は不適）
　　　We're going to the theatre this evening.　（We go to ...　は不適）
　・時刻表や予定表などに組み込まれた未来の事柄には、単純現在が使われる。
　　　His train arrives at 11.46.
　　　I start my new job tomorrow.
　・従属節では、未来の事柄に will ではなく現在形が使われる。
　　　I'll kill anybody who touches my possessions.　（... who will touch ...　は不適）
　　　I'll phone you whe I get home.　（... when I'll get home.　は不適）
　・Why don't you ... ? と提案するときには、未来に事柄にも単純現在が使われる。
　　　Why don't you take a day off tomorrow?


５．一連の出来事：　実演・実証、解説・実況、指示、物語
　・完了した一連の動作や出来事について述べるとき、単純現在が使われる。
　　例えば、実演・実証、解説・実況、指示、物語など。
　　　First I take a bowl and break two eggs into it. Next ....　（... I am taking a bowl ...　は不適）
　　　Lydiard passes to Taylor, Taylor shoots - and it's a goal!
　　　How do I get to the station? - You go straight on to the traffic lights, then you turn left, ....
　　　So I go into the office, and I see this man, and he says to me ....
　

６．継続している期間については現在時制は使われない
　・どれくらい現在の動作や状態が続いているかを述べるときは、現在時制ではなく完了時制が使われる。
　　　I've known her since 1960.　（I know her since 1960.　は不適）
